Amman: The wholesale and retail trade sector recorded a gross domestic product of JD818 million in the first quarter of 2026, as efforts to modernize the sector gathered pace through new e-commerce and digital marketing initiatives.
According to Jordan News Agency, the first-half progress report of the Economic Modernization Vision's 2026-2029 Executive Program showed that the market regulation quality index reached 95.2 percent by the end of June. The report highlighted progress in developing an integrated e-commerce ecosystem, including the completion of a gap assessment and recommendations report for the National E-Commerce Strategy 2026-2029.
A workshop was also held to review the assessment findings and determine priorities for the next phase, followed by the preparation of the final draft of the e-commerce strategy. As part of efforts to expand businesses' access to digital markets, the "Click Business" e-commerce and digital marketing support program was launched during the first half of the year.
Agreements were also signed to support 18 projects in e-commerce and digital marketing. The initiatives form part of the Economic Modernization Vision's measures to develop the trade sector, accelerate its digital transformation, and expand support for businesses operating in e-commerce and digital marketing.
