Amman: War Child in Jordan on Tuesday held its annual event for the project "Strengthening the Capacities of In-country Partners and Community Organisations to Implement Effective and Sustainable Programme" at the Haya Cultural Centre in Amman.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event was sponsored by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Jordan, Stella Kloth, and attended by representatives of partner organisations, civil society institutions, and several government ministries.
The event aimed to enhance cooperation between government institutions and civil society organisations, review the project's key achievements over the past year, and explore ways to build sustainable partnerships that ensure programme continuity and long-term impact on children and local communities. It highlighted War Child's role in empowering local partners and equipping them with the skills and tools needed to implement programmes that address the needs of Jordanian society and refugees.
War Child Jordan Director Mohammad Awamreh stated that the event was organised to showcase the project's achievements and reinforce partnerships. He noted that the national project targets central, northern and southern governorates and seeks to support local community organisations in fulfilling their vital roles. The four-year project aids partners in implementing humanitarian, educational, and psychosocial programmes, focusing on training them on War Child's core interventions.
These interventions include the Team Up programme, promoting children's mental health and psychosocial support; the Be Present programme, supporting psychological well-being; and the I Want to Learn programme, enhancing literacy, numeracy, and socio-emotional learning skills for positive and sustainable outcomes. Awamreh emphasized that building partners' capacities in these programmes expands their reach and strengthens integration with national efforts in child protection, education, and mental health. The findings of a national needs assessment conducted in Amman, Irbid, Mafraq, and Zarqa will support partners, guide programme development, and inform future training activities.
Ambassador Kloth affirmed that supporting partnerships with national institutions and local community organisations is a cornerstone of the Netherlands' development programmes in Jordan. She said the initiatives reflect the Netherlands' commitment to strengthening civil society capacities to achieve sustainable development, noting that empowering local partners is essential to ensuring programme sustainability and long-term impact on children, host communities, and refugees. She commended War Child for implementing innovative programmes that respond to real community needs.
The event featured a documentary highlighting the project's journey and achievements, as well as a social theater performance presented in collaboration with Zaal and Khadra Theater. The performance addressed key social issues related to the project's objectives and delivered its messages through an interactive approach aimed at raising community awareness.
