Vehicle Prices ‘Stabilized’ in Local Market Due to Government Decisions, Says JADA

Amman: Chairman of the Jordan Automotive Dealers Association (JADA), Mohammad Elayan, announced that vehicle prices in the local market have “stabilized due to the favorable environment created by government decisions within the roadmap regulating the Jordanian vehicle market.”

According to Jordan News Agency, Elayan highlighted that stocks of new vehicles across all categories are readily available at dealer and trader agencies. He pointed out that upcoming legal amendments, set to be implemented at the beginning of next month, aim to regulate the import conditions for electric-powered vehicles. These amendments will establish standards and specifications intended to regulate the market, enhance quality, and protect consumer rights.

Elayan further explained that the new regulations will permit vehicle imports based on multiple global specifications, primarily those from European, American, or Arab Gulf standards. He emphasized that this approach opens opportunities for dealers and traders to engage with substantial regional and global markets, where sales exceed 20 million vehicles annually.

Discussing the objectives, Elayan stated that the recent regulatory decisions and customs reductions are designed to offer citizens greater freedom in selecting suitable vehicles without the constraints imposed by price differences and significant customs duties across various categories. This, he believes, will improve consumers’ ability to make informed decisions.

He also mentioned that the newly developed instructions are the result of thorough research aimed at safeguarding consumers and the Jordanian economy. These guidelines are expected to create a more favorable environment in the vehicle market concerning quality and safety, while also providing genuine manufacturer’s warranties, ultimately benefiting consumer choices and protecting their vehicle investments.

Looking ahead, Elayan urged all market stakeholders to work towards enhancing Jordanian consumer confidence and price stability. He stressed the importance of ensuring a sufficient supply of vehicles in the market and avoiding speculation or unwarranted price increases, as current costs do not justify any hikes.
