Riyadh: The U.S. Department of State has clarified that the forthcoming meeting with a Russian delegation in Riyadh is not intended as a starting point for “negotiations” concerning Ukraine. This meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, is a continuation of recent communications between President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Jordan News Agency, the U.S. State Department emphasized that the interaction is a follow-up to the phone conversation between the two leaders. U.S. State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce, addressing reporters in Riyadh, stated, “I don’t think this should be seen as being about the details or progress in the context of some form of negotiations.”
Bruce further elaborated that the meeting is an effort to build on the dialogue initiated by President Trump’s call. “As President Donald Trump requested, this is actually a follow-up to that phone call to see if we can move forward and determine what is possible,” she added.
