Amman: Jordan Tour Guides Association (JTGA) said "Urdun Jannah" (Our Jordan is paradise) program has become one of the country's key national initiatives to support domestic tourism, help boost local travel and introduce thousands of Jordanians to tourist and archaeological sites across the Kingdom.
According to Jordan News Agency, JTGA said the program has also supported local communities, tourism establishments and workers in the sector. In remarks to "petra," JTGA Chairman Ayman Omar highlighted that the program strengthened the role of tourist guides in delivering educational and cultural experiences that reflect Jordan's identity, history, and civilizational heritage.
To date, the initiative has provided job opportunities for hundreds of tourist guides and helped sustain their work amid challenges facing the tourism sector, adding that it has become the "main" employer for guides. Omar emphasized that the program has helped preserve the profession's continuity and its mission of promoting Jordan's cultural and historical heritage.
