Amman: United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said on Monday the Gaza Strip is a “living hell” and is getting worse amid a deterioration in the humanitarian situation after Israel resumed the war of genocide.
According to Jordan News Agency, in remarks at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum, Lazzarini stated “there is absolutely no safe place in the Gaza Strip,” highlighting that the residents of Gaza are facing daily bombardment, widespread and worsening starvation, disease, and exceptionally squalid conditions.
He pointed out that Israel’s systematic killing of 15 paramedics and civil defense personnel in late March marked a new level of escalation, as the identities of the individuals were clearly known, constituting a stark violation of international humanitarian law.
“What happened was undeniable, and it looked they were systematically killed, one by one,” he commented.
Lazzarini urged for an independent international investigation into the incident and for those responsible to be held accountable. He also warned that relief aid in Gaza was nearly completely depleted, stating “there is no longer any aid to distribute” following the closure of the crossing a month ago.
