Amman: The University of Jordan Hospital (UJH) made significant strides in 2025, solidifying its position as a crucial educational and medical institution in the country.
According to Jordan News Agency, the hospital's Director General, Dr. Nader Bsoul, reported that the facility treated a total of 609,595 patients throughout the year, which included 90,988 emergency cases.
Dr. Bsoul highlighted the hospital's notable achievements in several areas such as infrastructure development, advanced medical equipment, and academic programs. He emphasized that these advancements are in line with the Royal vision for comprehensive modernization. The hospital performed 10,896 major surgeries and conducted 19,456 outpatient procedures focusing on eye and dental surgeries.
In accordance with Royal directives focusing on humanitarian services, the hospital admitted 15 children from the Gaza Strip suffering from heart conditions, ensuring they received the necessary medical treatment. Dr. Bsoul also pointed out a significant infrastructure upgrade, where the hospital's ninth floor was renovated into a modern, fully furnished residential building for inpatients at a cost of approximately JD500,000.
In terms of governance, the hospital achieved a 100% response rate to inquiries from the Audit Bureau. Future expansions are underway, including the construction of two additional floors with a total area of 7,500 square meters in the new Faculty of Dentistry building, which will extend the hospital's headquarters.
On the academic front, Dr. Bsoul noted that the hospital offers 38 training programs in major and subspecialties, including 22 residency programs and 16 fellowship programs. Notably, three fellowship programs were introduced in Jordan for the first time in 2025, covering Endocrine Surgery, Pediatric Endocrinology, and Maternal-Fetal Medicine. More than 90% of these programs have received accreditation from the Arab Board of Medical Specializations.
Currently, about 470 Jordanian and Arab resident physicians are enrolled in the hospital's specialty programs, with 70 to 80 specialist physicians graduating annually. The hospital also continues its educational mission by training thousands of students from the University of Jordan's health colleges and strengthening partnerships with relevant local institutions.
