Amman: The UN Human Rights Office in the Occupied Palestinian Territory called on Israeli forces to remove violent settlers who are forcibly displacing thousands of Palestinians, unlawfully seizing Palestinian land and expanding settlements in the occupied West Bank.
According to Jordan News Agency, the office reported that Israeli settlers from an outpost in the Ras Al-Ain area of Qusra village cut off water and electricity supplies to three neighboring Palestinian homes last month. Last week, the settlers closed all gates and entrances leading to these homes and erected a tent between them, effectively trapping the residents and preventing entry or exit from the area.
The UN office's statement highlighted that three Palestinian families, totaling approximately 15 individuals, including at least two children, have been confined to their homes, unable to meet basic needs and lacking access to essential services like water and electricity.
The office further reported that Israeli security forces seemingly obstructed paramedics, solidarity activists, and journalists from reaching the affected families. Additionally, video footage purportedly shows possible collusion between Israeli security forces and the settlers, as soldiers were seen praying alongside settlers at the site.
Although Israeli forces removed the settlers' tent the day before yesterday, the settlers themselves remain, continuing to block access to the Palestinian homes. The UN office emphasized that these actions, with support or tacit consent from Israel, create intolerable living conditions for the Palestinian families, aiming to force them from their homes and lands.
