Ukrainian President Makes Surprise Visit to Finland

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Helsinki on Wednesday to participate in the leaders’ summit of the five Nordic countries (Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway) to discuss the consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis and the possibilities of European support for Kyiv.

Finnish President Sauli Niinisto will discuss with his Ukrainian counterpart the developments of the crisis in his country and Kyiv’s preparations for the spring offensive to regain its lands, the Finish presidency said in a statement.

Finland is the last member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), while Ukraine seeks to join the alliance, especially after the outbreak of its crisis with Russia.
