UJ president, Spain’s ambassador discuss cooperation

President of the University of Jordan (UJ), Nathir Obeidat, on Tuesday met with Spain’s Ambassador to Jordan, Aranzazu Banon Davalos, for a discussion on ways to enhance academic and cultural cooperation.

In the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral ties and developing and strengthening promising opportunities in various fields.

Obeidat lauded the cooperation between the UJ and the Spain’s embassy, underlining his support for continued communication and coordination between the two parties regarding the Spanish language program at the UJ’s School of Foreign Languages, and joint projects and programs with its Center of Strategic Studies.

For her part, D?valos called for continuing and expanding cooperation with the UJ, commending its distinguished reputation at local and regional levels.

D?valos said that she looks forward that this cooperation would include new areas such as the ongoing education and offering more opportunities for Spanish language graduates, and higher specialization in medicine.

UJ Vice President for International Relations, Zaid Eyadat, underscored the importance of student exchange programs and the exchange of researchers and faculty members for the UJ and the increase in the number of Spanish students at the university, in addition to expanding cooperation with Spanish research and studies centers for exchanging expertise and establishing joint projects.

Director of the UJ’s International Affairs Unit (IAU), Hadeel Yaseen, said UJ has signed cooperation agreements with 11 Spanish universities on exchanging students and faculty members within the Erasmus+ program for this year, expressing the IAU’s readiness to cooperate with the embassy and provide the necessary technical support.
