UAE delegation visits AQACHEI

Jordan and the United Arab Emarites (UAE) on Monday discussed exchanging expertise between the two countries, especially in the field of accreditation and quality assurance in higher education institutions.

The meeting was held between Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI) president Thafer Assaraira, and Education and Technology Sciences attaché at the UAE Embassy in Cairo, Sheikh Ammar Al-Mualla.

Assaraira gave a briefing on the AQACHEI and highlighted its role in raising the efficiency and level of performance of public and private Jordanian higher education institutions and enhancing their competitive capabilities at the national, regional and global levels.

He also underlined Jordanian systems and standards of accreditation and quality, similar to those in developed countries, and enabling Jordanian universities to improve their performance in order to increase their competitiveness at the regional and global levels.

The meeting covered AQACHEI’s procedures for public and private accreditation applied for all universities in the Kingdom, and the mechanism of quality assurance procedures at the institution and programs’ level.

He underscored the Jordan National Qualifications Framework, which includes a hierarchical classification of all levels of qualifications and certificates related to higher education programs, general education, and vocational and technical training with descriptions for each level to determine knowledge, skills and competencies that should be associated with the qualification.

For its part, the UAE delegation said this visit aimed at checking on the AQACHEI’s expertise in the field of accreditation and quality in order to benefit from.
