Deir alla: Two people were killed and a third was injured in a drowning incident at an agricultural pond in the Deir Alla area of Balqa Governorate, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said on Tuesday. The tragedy unfolded when three Asian nationals were reported to have drowned in the pond, prompting swift action from emergency services.
According to Jordan News Agency, specialised Civil Defence teams were dispatched to the scene where they successfully recovered the victims from the water. Among the victims, a 25-year-old man and a 7-year-old child were pronounced dead at the scene. A 19-year-old individual managed to survive but sustained injuries during the incident.
Ambulance crews on site administered first aid to the injured 19-year-old before transferring him to Princess Iman Government Hospital for further treatment. Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased were also taken to the hospital.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident have been initiated by the relevant authorities to understand how the tragic event unfolded.
