Tunisia Assumes Chairmanship of Arab League Council at Ministerial Level

Cairo: Mr. Mohamed Ali Nafti, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, led the 166th Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Ministerial Level. During his address, he emphasized the significance of Tunisia's new role during a critical period, focusing on strengthening Arab solidarity and enhancing joint Arab actions.

According to African Press Organization, Mr. Nafti reiterated Tunisia's unwavering support for the Palestinian people, emphasizing the need for them to regain their rights, including the establishment of a sovereign state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. He also expressed solidarity with Syria and Lebanon, condemned attacks on their territories, and emphasized respect for their sovereignty.

Mr. Nafti affirmed Tunisia's support for a solution in Libya that maintains its territorial unity and expressed solidarity with Sudan and Yemen in their efforts to preserve sovereignty. He also expressed support for Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, and Iraq against violations targeting their security and sovereignty. Additionally, he called for increased coordination among Arab States to address security challenges and the importance of implementing Arab strategies.

In the development sector, the Minister highlighted Tunisia's active role in Arab projects and its achievements, such as hosting the Arab High-Level Preparatory Meeting for the Second World Summit for Social Development and receiving the Arab Government Excellence Award for education. Furthermore, he noted Tunisia's leadership in health sector cooperation and its selection as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2027, enhancing tourism and cultural exchanges.

Mr. Nafti concluded by reaffirming Tunisia's commitment to advancing joint Arab action and strengthening the League's role in meeting regional challenges. Participating Arab delegations praised Tunisia's leadership and expressed hope for its continued contribution to Arab unity.

On the sidelines of the session, Mr. Nafti engaged in discussions with Arab counterparts to enhance bilateral cooperation and prepare for future engagements.
