Tripoli: An agreement was signed in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Tuesday, sealing the deal for the 2026 African-Turkish Summit to be hosted in Tripoli. The summit is scheduled to take place in the Libyan capital from December 8 to 9, 2026.
According to Libyan News Agency, the agreement was signed by representatives of both Libya and the African Union Commission. Libya was represented by Ambassador Abdulhakim Ghaith, Director of the Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Steve Lalande, Director of the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Department at the Commission, signed on behalf of the African Union Commission.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity highlighted the significance of the agreement as a crucial step in the preparations for the summit. It demonstrates the confidence in Libya's capability to host significant continental and international events, and emphasizes the nation's dedication to fostering partnership and cooperation between the African continent and the Republic of Trkiye.
