Amman: Minister of Transport Nidal Katamine, alongside key parliamentary figures, engaged in discussions with officials from the Jordan Truck Owners Association to explore strategies for enhancing the efficiency of the nation's truck fleet, a move aimed at boosting the sector's overall performance.
According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting included Chairman of the Parliamentary Public Services and Transportation Committee Ayman Al-Badadweh, MP Khaled Al-Masamrah, President of the Jordan Truck Owners Association Mohammad Al Dawood, and Vice President Ibrahim Al-Ghzawi. The minister addressed various challenges facing the trucking sector, with proposals put forth to improve operations and overcome existing obstacles.
Katamine emphasized the critical role of the trucking and land transport sector in supporting the national economy and maintaining robust trade and supply chains. He highlighted the Ministry of Transport's commitment to collaborating with the syndicate and other relevant entities to enhance the fleet's technical and operational capabilities, which would subsequently improve service quality, road safety, and cost efficiency.
Al-Baddadweh expressed the Parliamentary Public Services and Transportation Committee's backing of government initiatives to advance the trucking sector. He noted that increasing the sector's competitiveness would stimulate the national economy and help balance the interests of sector workers and the public.
The discussions also saw participation from Secretary-General of the Ministry of Transport Fares Abu Dayyeh and Director General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission Riyadh Al-Kharabsheh, focusing on issues related to the trucking sector and fostering institutional cooperation between the Ministry, the LTRC, and the Jordan Truck Owners Association.
