Tourism minister receives key to Arab tourism for 2022 in Madaba

Deputizing for HRH Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Nayef Al Fayez on Monday received the key to Arab tourism for 2022, during a ceremony celebrating Madaba Governorate, which was selected as the capital of Arab tourism.

Al-Fayez commended efforts of the local community and concerned authorities in developing tourism in Madaba, southwest Amman, indicating that selecting Madaba as the capital of Arab tourism will contribute to revitalizing the tourism sector and attracting investment projects.

The minister expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Arab Tourism Organization (ATO), represented by its president, Bandar bin Fahd Al Fahid, stressing the importance of the ATO’s role in achieving sustainable tourism development, highlighting Arab tourist attractions, and promoting tourism exchange between Arab countries.

During the ceremony, which included a number of events that reflected the city’s civilizational, cultural and religious heritage, Al Fayez congratulated the people of Madaba for this achievement.

The selection of Madaba as the capital of Arab tourism was based on criteria set by the ATO, which included the management of tourism in the city, infrastructure, human resources, and other indicators that show the city’s interest in developing tourism.
