Amman: Social Development Minister Wafaa Bani Mustafa on Monday launched the "They See" initiative, a collaborative effort with the "Optikos Al Shami" Center aimed at improving eye health for residents of shelters. This initiative will conduct eye tests and provide eyeglasses to those in need, targeting various vulnerable groups within the shelters.
According to Jordan News Agency, the initiative is a testament to community partnership, highlighting responsibility, solidarity, and giving. Minister Bani Mustafa, who officiated the launch of the first phase, emphasized that this phase will include eye examinations for 1,000 orphans and individuals without family support.
Bani Mustafa remarked, "Sight is not merely a sense, but a window to life and an essential tool for learning, knowledge, communication, independence, and quality of life." She further explained that the initiative's humanitarian goal is to preserve the eye health of shelter residents and enhance the services provided to them.
The initiative will cover a diverse group of beneficiaries, including children, women, the elderly, and people with disabilities, ensuring that all groups receiving care at shelters benefit from improved eye health services.
Rami Al-Azzeh, General Manager of "Optikos Al-Shami" Center, stated that "They See" is rooted in the center's commitment to serving the community and enhancing the quality of life for the most vulnerable. The initiative aims to reach shelter beneficiaries, offering specialized eye tests and supplying eyeglasses to those in need.
