Syria’s GOSI delegation briefed on Jordan’s social security experience

A delegation from the Syrian General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) visited the Social Security Corporation (SSC) to review its expertise and best practices in the field of occupational safety, workplace injuries, and regulations in place.

Speaking at the meeting, SSC Director General, Dr. Hazem Rahahleh, expressed the SSC’s readiness to harness all its technical and insurance expertise, as well as its experience in the field of work-related injuries and occupational safety.

Rahahleh voiced the SSC’s “utmost” readiness to assist the GOSI in various aspects that would develop level of its services and procedures.

The SSC’s interest in occupational safety and health aspects reflects its social and economic role in society, aimed to provide social protection to beneficiaries under the umbrella of the provisions of Jordan’s Social Security Law, according to Rahahleh.

For his part, the Syrian Deputy Minister of Labor and head of the delegation, Rakan Reda Al-Ibrahim, praised the SSC’s “remarkable and pioneering” technical expertise in the field of legislation, procedures and regulations related to issues of occupational safety and on-he-site injuries and their importance for the Syrian side, which facilitates the transfer of Jordanian experience to the GOSI.

The GOSI Director General, Yahya Ahmed, expressed the delegation’s desire to check firsthand on the SSC’s “pioneering” experience in related legislation, policies, regulations and procedures, noting that the SSC is one of the “leading” institutions in regard to legislation and the social protection systems.

The SSC has a “vast” international reputation, which has made “remarkable” strides in the social protection aspect, and is “distinguished” at the Arab level, he said.
