Syria Chosen as Guest of Honor at 2026 Amman International Book Fair

Amman: Syria has been selected as the guest of honor at the upcoming 25th Amman International Book Fair 2026, scheduled to take place from September 24 to October 3 at the Jordan International Exhibition Center, located in Mecca Mall.

According to Jordan News Agency, the announcement was made by the Ministry of Culture, with Minister Mustafa Rawashdeh highlighting that this decision is a testament to the enduring cultural and historical ties between Jordan and Syria. The minister emphasized the vital role of culture and literature in fostering communication and the exchange of knowledge among Arab nations.

Minister Rawashdeh expressed that Syria's participation will provide a unique opportunity to celebrate its rich cultural scene, showcasing its literary, intellectual, and artistic contributions. Attendees of the fair will have the chance to engage with a wide array of Syrian publications and creative endeavors.

The decision aligns with the broader context of increasing cultural exchange between the two countries. This initiative follows a recent meeting between Minister Rawashdeh and his Syrian counterpart, Mohammed Yassin Saleh, during the Jerash Festival for Culture and Arts, where both officials advocated for enhanced cultural cooperation and the development of bilateral cultural agreements.

Rawashdeh also noted that the Amman International Book Fair continues to be a significant Arab platform for literature, knowledge, and dialogue. Syria's role as the guest of honor is expected to enrich the event's cultural program and contribute to the expansion of Arab cultural exchange.
