The British pound Wednesday fell against the US dollar to its lowest level since 1985 amid fears that the British economy would suffer a recession due to inflation.
According to several British media outlets, the pound fell by 0.83 per cent during the middle of the day at 1.1424 against the dollar, after it had reached $1.1406, its lowest level since 1985.
