SSC Announces JD6.70 Annual Increase for 252,292 Retirees

Amman: The Social Security Corporation (SSC) has declared that 252,292 retirees will receive an annual hike of JD6.70 in their pensions this year. This adjustment is part of the corporation's efforts to align pension benefits with inflation rates.

According to Jordan News Agency, the SSC's announcement was made in a press statement on Sunday, where the corporation emphasized that the annual inflation adjustment for retirees is a legal right. This adjustment is in accordance with Social Security Law No. 1 of 2014 and its amendments. The law stipulates that retirement and disability pensions are linked to inflation or the annual growth rate of the average wage, choosing whichever is lower, within a predefined maximum limit.

Implemented each May, the adjustment is distributed equally among retirement and disability pensions, irrespective of their respective amounts. The SSC has confirmed that the JD6.70 increase will be disbursed as part of the retirees' pensions, affecting over 250,000 individuals.
