Social Development Ministry and WFP Forge Partnership to Enhance Social Services

Amman: The Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, and UN World Food Programme (WFP) Resident Representative Alberto Correia Mendes have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing social services for target groups under the ministry’s initiatives.

According to Jordan News Agency, the partnership aligns with the goals of the ministry and the National Aid Fund (NAF) to improve the delivery of social services.

Bani Mustafa emphasized the significance of the collaboration with WFP, noting that it is a crucial component of the ministry’s and the fund’s programs, as well as the updated National Strategy for Social Protection. She highlighted the ministry’s commitment to executing projects in line with the Royal directives outlined in Dr. Jaafar Hassan’s Letter of Designation.

The joint efforts will focus on developing programs to build livelihoods and increase productivity. The partnership also aims to enhance transformational systems for follow-up, evaluation, and results monitoring, as well as improving the complaints and feedback mechanism and strengthening emergency preparedness.

Bani Mustafa expressed optimism about the ongoing partnership with WFP and commended the efforts of both the programme’s team and the ministry’s and NAF’s employees. In a related development, NAF Director General, Khitam Shneikat, also signed a joint cooperation agreement with Mendes, who acknowledged the importance of maintaining future cooperation with Jordan.
