Slovak trade mission to visit Kingdom late June -envoy

A Slovak trade mission is scheduled to visit the Kingdom, at the end of June 2022, comprised of representatives of several economic sectors, to discuss establishment of complementary industries and promotion of trade exchange, Slovakia’s non-resident ambassador to Jordan, Marek Varga, announced.

Speaking at meeting with member of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI)’s board of directors, Tamim Qasrawi, Varga hoped Slovak trade mission and their ACI counterparts hold joint working talks.

In an ACI statement released on Saturday, Qasrawi stressed the importance of the Slovak market for Jordanian exports, as a gateway to the EU and Eastern European countries, mainly Czech Republic, Slovenia and Croatia.

These markets, Qasrawi noted, are “promising” for Jordanian industries, especially in light of the Kingdom’s free trade agreement (FTA) with European Union, adding that Jordan could be a gateway for Slovak products to the markets of the Arab Gulf, Iraq and Syria.

Jordan, he noted, is an “attractive” area to foreign investments, due to its “distinguished” geographical location, which made the Kingdom a gateway to markets of the Arab Gulf states and Iraq.

Jordan’s free trade agreements open markets of many countries worldwide to the Kingdom’s exports, he said, pointing to the ACI’s intention to organize a Jordanian economic delegation’s visit to Slovakia, aimed to strengthen joint economic relations.

On the trade exchange, he said Jordan’s exports to Slovakia are “modest, “as their value did not exceed $1 million in 2021, compared to imports worth about $14 million, mainly vehicles and machinery.

Varga referred to the “remarkable” prospects to strengthen economic relations between the two countries, pointing to Slovakia’s interest at the highest levels to enhance relations with Jordan.
