Shboul, Kampmann take part in workshop on Germany’s media experience

Amman, Minister of Government Communication, Faisal Shboul, and German Ambassador to Jordan, Bernhard Kampmann, on Thursday participated in a panel discussion on the German media expertise.

The workshop seeks to follow-up on a recent visit by a Jordanian media delegation to Germany, aimed to learn about German media legislation, regulations and laws governing related activities and its expertise in dealing with the various media, audio-visual and print, and social platforms.

Speaking at the event, Shboul referred to the Jordanian-German cooperation relations in various fields, including the media area through training and exchange of media visits.

Shboul, who is also the government’s official spokesperson, lauded German model in dealing with various media outlets and regulating work of social platforms.

Jordan, as part of its efforts to provide information to various media outlets, has trained 24 media spokespeople in ministries and looks forward in the next stage to training 75 others in other public institutions, Shboul said.

For his part, Kampmann said media plays an “important” role in stimulating public debate and shaping political will, stressing readiness to cooperate with Jordan to address the challenges facing media globally.

The two-day workshop, which saw participation of a number of experts, discusses media sustainability strategies, impact of licensing fees on digital media pluralism, ways to counter hate speech and misinformation on the Internet, curricula development to teach professional media, and trends in regulating digital media in Europe.
