Senate speaker, German delegation discuss ties, region

Senate Speaker Faisal al-Fayez, on Thursday, said that Jordan, under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, is carrying out comprehensive reforms.

He indicated that such reforms aim at consolidating democracy, enhancing development and modernization, cementing the values of justice and accountability, activating the role of women and youth to enable the Kingdom to reach parliamentary governments.

Al-Fayez made his remarks as he met with a German delegation representing Konrad Adenauer Stiftung company, in the presence of Head of the Senate Jordanian-German Friendship Committee Senator Saleh Irshidat and German Ambassador in Amman Bernhard Kampmann.

Al-Fayez praised the depth of Jordanian-German relations and Berlin’s support for His Majesty King Abdullah’s efforts aiming at maintaining peace in the Middle East region.

Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, rejects all the Israeli attempts aiming at changing the historical and legal status quo in the holy city of Jerusalem, al-Fayez stressed.

He voiced His Majesty King Abdullah II’s keenness to deepen and build on Jordan’s ties with Germany, especially in the economic, investment and development aspects, and to enhance trade exchanges between the two friendly countries.

For their part, the German delegation highlighted efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to bring peace to the region and restore security and stability to it, in addition to His Majesty’s constant endeavors to enable the peoples of the region to live in peace.

The delegation praised Amman’s humanitarian role in hosting Syrian refugees, expressing their country’s desire to work with the Kingdom and support ventures that constitute a priority for Jordan.
