Senate president meets S.Korean parliament delegation

Amman, Senate President Faisal Fayez met with a South Korean parliament delegation on Sunday.

During the meeting, Fayez said the Jordanian-Korean are solid and based on mutual respect, underscoring His Majesty King Abdullah II’s and the senate’s commitment to further advance them in various fields.

He noted that Jordan’s economy was the most affected by surrounding conflicts and instability and Israel’s rejection of peace and international laws related to Palestinians’ rights, as well as the Covid-19 pandemic and Russo-Ukrainian war ramifications.

Amman is keen on forging more partnerships and investments with Seoul, he stated, calling on Korean investors to leverage opportunities in the Kingdom’s medical tourism, transportation, energy, water, and mining industries sectors.

Safety and security, an encouraging investment atmosphere, investor-protective legislation, strategic geographical location, free trade agreements, and several economic and development zones all make Jordan a platform for regional and global business, Fayez added.

He urged activating religious, therapeutic, and archaeological tourism cooperation to increase tourist numbers, commending Korea’s support to Jordan in bringing about regional peace and putting an end to conflicts and violence.

For their part, the delegation reiterated the deep-rootedness of the 60-year-old Jordanian-Korean ties, expressing interest in further developing relations.

They emphasized Jordan’s “positive role in the peace process due to its distinguished location and love for peace,” pointing to economic cooperation with the Kingdom in energy and construction and calling for partnerships in green energy, hydrogenic industries, and renewable energy.
