Istanbul:Senate President Faisal Fayez criticized Israeli government policies for escalating conflicts in the Middle East, warning of threats to regional and global stability due to violations of international law and humanitarian principles.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fayez spoke at the 17th Bosphorus Summit in Istanbul, highlighting that Israeli actions have intensified Palestinian suffering through displacement and oppression for over eight decades. He referenced King Abdullah II's address at the United Nations General Assembly, condemning Israeli actions in Gaza and the West Bank.
Fayez noted Israel's rejection of peace initiatives, including the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative, which proposed normalized relations with Arab and Muslim countries for peace and a Palestinian state. He also criticized the United Nations' failure to implement resolutions, warning that injustice against Palestinians could not be confined to the Middle East.
Fayez expressed concern over potential forcible displacement of Palestinians and attacks on holy sites in Jerusalem. He reaffirmed Jordan's commitment to a just resolution to the Palestinian issue, referencing the peace treaty with Israel intended for comprehensive peace.
Highlighting Jordan's regional stability, Fayez commended the Kingdom's foreign policy of noninterference and constructive international relations. He advocated for international cooperation to redirect resources from wars to challenges like climate change.
Fayez addressed a recent terrorist attack on a church in Karak Governorate, emphasizing its failure to undermine national unity and solidarity between Muslims and Christians in Jordan. The summit discussed global developments and distributed copies of the Amman Message to participants.
