Amman: Senate President Faisal Fayez expressed his pride in the "brotherly" Jordanian-Omani relations and their "high level" in various fields, including political, economic, investment, and parliamentary affairs.
According to Jordan News Agency, Fayez described these ties as "historic and deeply rooted," emphasizing their foundation on mutual respect to serve common interests and support the just causes of the Arab nation. His remarks were made during a meeting at the Senate headquarters with members of the Legal Committee of the Omani State Council, led by Sheikh Sultan bin Matar Al-Azizi, and attended by the Omani Ambassador to Jordan, Sheikh Fahad Bin Abdul Rahman Alojaili.
Fayez called for advancing parliamentary relations between the Jordanian and Omani chambers to strengthen the role of the two councils' parliamentary friendship committees and to facilitate the exchange of meetings and expertise between the permanent committees specializing in various sectors. The discussions also focused on strengthening bilateral relations to serve common interests and addressing issues concerning the Arab and Islamic nations.
During the meeting, the parties addressed the current regional situation, particularly the Iranian-American-Israeli conflict and its impact on regional security and stability. Fayez cautioned that expanding the conflict's scope could lead to further chaos and destruction in the region. He reiterated Jordan's rejection of Iran's aggression against Jordan and the Gulf states, highlighting King Abdullah II's affirmation that the security and stability of the Gulf states are an integral part of Jordan's own security and stability.
Fayez emphasized King Abdullah II's calls for halting hostilities and working towards achieving "a comprehensive and sustainable" de-escalation that contributes to restoring security and stability and achieving peace for all. He also advocated for strengthening Arab solidarity and cohesion, establishing Arab economic unity to safeguard the interests of the Arab nation, confronting Iranian ambitions in the region, and addressing the aggressive and expansionist policies of the Israeli occupation state.
The Omani delegation, for their part, praised the "high level of brotherly bilateral" relations and urged continued joint efforts to build upon existing ties across various fields and sectors. They commended King Abdullah II's efforts to resolve regional issues, establish peace, and defend just Arab causes, stressing that Arab unity is the "only way to preserve the security and stability of Arab states and prevent regional interference in their affairs."
