Senate okays ASEZA, general budget draft laws

Amman, The Senate on Sunday approved a bill amending the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) law, as passed by the Lower House.

The new bill requires foreign companies to register with the Companies Control Department (CCD) before registering with the ASEZA. The amendments also cancel the requirement related to the social services tax because the law of the tax itself had been abolished.

During today’s session, chaired by Senate President Faisal Fayez, the senators also okayed amendments to the law regulating the general budget and budgets of government units after amendments to the constitution required the government to submit a single draft budget law that includes the budgets of government units.
