Senate Committee and Russian Ambassador Discuss Enhancing Bilateral Relations

Amman: The Jordanian-Russian Friendship Committee in the Senate, led by Senator Sharhabil Madi, convened with Russian Ambassador to Jordan Gleb Desyatnikov to explore avenues for enhancing the bilateral relations between Jordan and Russia.

According to Jordan News Agency, Madi underscored the robust Jordanian-Russian relations, which are grounded in mutual respect and ongoing development across multiple sectors. He emphasized the commitment of both nations to broaden economic, cultural, and tourism cooperation. Madi also highlighted the committee’s interest in advancing collaboration in tourism, driven by Jordan’s rich religious, therapeutic, and archaeological sites, alongside Christian pilgrimage destinations. He noted that the mutual visa exemption agreement is expected to boost Russian tourist arrivals and stimulate tourism and economic activities in both countries.

Desyatnikov affirmed the strong Jordanian-Russian ties, particularly in political, economic, cultural, and tourism domains, commending the high level of cooperation achieved under the leadership of both nations. He acknowledged Jordan’s diverse tourism offerings and expressed that the visa waiver will facilitate more Russian tourists visiting the Kingdom to explore its heritage and historical landmarks.

Committee members emphasized the importance of utilizing existing facilitation measures to enhance mutual tourism and open new channels of cooperation that align with shared interests and strengthen strategic ties. Both parties agreed on developing a joint action plan between Jordanian and Russian tourism authorities to revitalize cooperation and restore the previous momentum of Russian tourism to Jordan.
