Amman:Scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms are forecasted for southern and eastern regions of Jordan on Thursday, as the country experiences moderate weather ahead of a wider spell of atmospheric instability expected on Sunday.
According to Jordan News Agency, the Jordan Meteorological Department reports that clouds at varying altitudes will be present throughout the day. While relatively hot conditions will persist in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, moderate northwesterly to northeasterly winds may occasionally raise dust, particularly in the Badia region.
The department has issued warnings about reduced visibility due to early-morning fog over high mountain areas and dust in desert regions. Motorists are also cautioned to be aware of slippery roads in areas that receive rainfall.
Thursday's temperatures are expected to reach 29 degrees Celsius in East Amman and the plains, 27 C in West Amman, 25 C in the northern highlands, and 26 C in the Sharah highlands. The Badia will see highs of 30 C, with 34 C anticipated in the northern Jordan Valley, 36 C in the southern Jordan Valley, and 35 C at the Dead Sea and Aqaba.
The unsettled weather pattern will persist into Friday, with isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in the south and east, while moderate conditions are expected elsewhere. Temperatures are predicted to rise slightly on Saturday, though scattered rain and occasional thunderstorms may still occur in parts of the south and east.
As atmospheric instability intensifies on Sunday, rain chances will expand with showers beginning in southern areas in the early morning and spreading to eastern and central parts of the country. Northern regions could also see light showers, and isolated southern and eastern areas may experience brief heavy rainfall accompanied by occasional thunder in the afternoon. Winds will shift to southeasterly to southwesterly, becoming active at intervals and raising dust, particularly in the Badia.
