Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms Expected Across Jordan This Week

Amman:Scattered showers are anticipated across parts of Jordan on Monday evening, particularly in the southern regions, as the country experiences a period of atmospheric instability. This weather pattern is expected to precede more widespread rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday, According to Jordan Meteorological Department.

According to Jordan News Agency, Monday's weather will remain moderate across most regions, with relatively hot conditions in the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Clouds will appear at varying altitudes, and rainfall is expected to develop during the evening, mainly in southern areas. Some showers could be briefly heavy and accompanied by thunder, with southeasterly to southwesterly winds occasionally raising dust, particularly across the Badia.

The department has issued warnings about reduced visibility due to early-morning fog over high mountain areas and dust in desert regions. Motorists are advised to exercise caution on slippery roads in areas receiving rainfall. Highs on Monday are forecast at 30 degrees Celsius in East Amman and 28 C in West Amman, with varying temperatures across other regions, including 34 C in the northern Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba.

Unsettled conditions are forecast to intensify on Tuesday, bringing a slight drop in temperatures and showers to various parts of the Kingdom. The rain may be accompanied by thunder, lightning, and occasional hail, with heavy downpours possible in some areas during the evening and overnight. The department has warned that heavy rainfall could trigger flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas.

The unsettled weather is expected to continue into Wednesday, with scattered showers in different regions, particularly in southern and eastern Jordan. By Thursday, the weather is anticipated to become more settled, with pleasant conditions in the highlands and plains and moderate temperatures across the remaining regions.
