Iraqi President Barham Salih said Saturday that countering Daesh terror group is the common task of all Iraqis, including close cooperation between the army and Kurdish Peshmerga forces.
Speaking after a deadly attack on the Peshmerga, Salih said in a tweet that Daesh attacks on Peshmerga checkpoints in the town of Mahmour are dangerous, and that confronting them is currently our urgent task.” He stressed that close cooperation between the Iraqi army and the Peshmerga is necessary to eliminate terrorists and bring security in the region.
Ten people, including 7 Peshmerga soldiers and three civilians, were killed Friday in a Daesh attack in Mahmour in northern Iraq.
