Safadi chairs Arab ministerial committee meeting on Israeli violations in Jerusalem

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi Tuesday chaired the fifth meeting of the Arab Ministerial Committee on action to confront the Israeli authorities’ violations in occupied Jerusalem.

The ministerial meeting comes ahead of the 158th regular session of the Arab League Council at a ministerial level.

Safadi noted the Committee’s efforts since the emergency meeting in Amman last April, during which the situation in al-Aqsa Mosque/al-Haram al-Sharif was discussed.

He highlighted Jordan’s efforts, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to protect Islamic and Christian sanctities as part of the Kingdom’s mandate to ensure the protection of holy sites and the preservation of its Arab, Islamic and Christian identity.

Safadi discussed the Committee’s efforts to mobilise international support to stop the illegal Israeli measures in occupied Jerusalem.

He noted the Committee’s efforts to reinvigorate negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis based on the two-state solution that would lead to establishing a Palestinian state on June 4, 1967, borders with East Jerusalem as its capital according to the pertinent international resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.
