Russian Ebeko Volcano Spews Ash

The Kamchatka Geophysical Survey of Russia Academy of Sciences (GCRAS) reported the eruption of the Ebeko volcano in the Russian Kuril Islands, spewing ash up to 3 km high.

The statement said that the eruption of the ash column was recorded Thursday morning, at an altitude of about 3 km above sea level.

The 1,156-meter-high Ebeko volcano is located on Paramushir Island, 7 km northeast of the Russian town of Severo-Kurilsk.

Ash emission incidents occur in it starting in 2016. The largest ash emission incident was recorded on Aug. 31, 2018, when a column of ash rose to 6 km from a new volcanic vent formed in 2017.
