Moscow: The Russian Foreign Ministry announced on Monday that Moscow and Kyiv are maintaining ongoing but separate channels of communication with Washington regarding a potential end to the war in Ukraine. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova addressed a news conference, indicating that while formal direct negotiations are currently suspended, both parties continue to engage with U.S. officials.
According to Jordan News Agency, Zakharova stated, "Of course, talks and negotiations regarding Ukraine are currently on hold, and it is difficult to convene a tripartite meeting given the numerous other issues facing the United States, including the conflict in the Middle East." Despite these challenges, she noted that Ukraine and Russia both continue to communicate separately with the United States in an effort to find a path toward halting the conflict.
The announcement underscores a complex diplomatic landscape where multilateral dialogue has been sidelined by competing global crises. Yet, back-channel or indirect discussions involving Washington persist as a primary framework for conflict resolution.
