Amman: The Jordan Union of Restaurants and Confectionery Proprietors announced the official price lists for the sale of qatayef, setting the price of the large piece between JD1 and JD1.1, while the price of the small "Asafiri" piece ranged between JD1.1 and JD1.25.
According to Jordan News Agency, Union President Omar Awad stated that qatayef prices have not changed from their levels during last Ramadan, and that the price ceilings are binding for the sale of qatayef dough (raw dough) for this season.
Awad emphasized that setting the price is part of the union's and the relevant authorities' efforts to regulate the market ahead of the holy month, when demand for this commodity increases significantly. The union urged all bakeries and sweets shops to adhere to the announced prices, warning against exploiting people's needs during Ramadan to raise prices.
The union also called on citizens to report any violations they may observe in the markets. It noted that inspection teams affiliated with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply will intensify their tours to ensure compliance with the price ceilings and the quality of the product.
