Researchers: Diversity of bee pastures is major factor in distinguishing Yemeni honey & its high quality

Researchers and academics confirmed that the diversity of bee pastures spread in the Yemeni environment, as well as the environmental diversity of coastal plains, mountain plateaus, valleys and deserts, are major factors in distinguishing Yemeni honey and its high quality.

In scientific lectures held today on the sidelines of the activities of the Second National Festival of Yemeni Honey and Bee Products, they pointed out that the profession of beekeepers in Yemen is one of the most important sources of income for many rural families.

They indicated that the number of Yemeni beekeepers reaches more than 100,000 beekeepers working in the honey production sector.

The lectures focused on the unique characteristics of Yemeni honey and made it one of the most famous types of honey in the world and the most expensive one. The price of a kilogram of Yemeni Sidr honey, which is famous for its purity as natural honey without chemicals, is about $500.

The scientific sessions also included lectures on sensory tests for honey and pollen tests, as well as the pharmacological properties of propolis and the pharmacological properties of Yemeni honey.

Lecturers and academics provided educational guidance on beekeeping and honey production, which contributes to preserving the historical heritage of Yemeni honey production , marketing it in an ideal way, developing this vital and important sector.
