Remittances to/from Jordan dropped, JMEA chief says

Currency exchange activity at the local money exchange market is weak in comparison with this time of the year, president of the Jordanian Money Exchange Association (JMEA) Abdulsalam Al Saudi said Saturday.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Al Saudi indicated that remittances flow into and out of the Kingdom dropped in number and value, compared to last September, which is less than their usual annual rates.

He also pointed out that such decrease is driven by citizens’ low purchasing power and the lack of money liquidity in addition to the high prices of some commodities.
