Amman: The Board of Trustees of the Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE) convened for its 29th meeting in Amman. The meeting focused on the center's recent developments, the progress of its regional programs, and initiatives aimed at strengthening Arab cooperation in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
According to Jordan News Agency, the two-day event was chaired by Abass Aden Atteyeh, who led discussions on various issues related to the center's work plans. The meeting highlighted efforts to position RCREEE as a regional platform supporting decision-makers and facilitating the exchange of expertise in sustainable energy. The discussions also aimed at supporting national policies to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy, aligning with the member states' priorities and sustainable development goals.
Board members emphasized the need for continued joint Arab action to tackle challenges in the region's energy sector, including energy transition, carbon emissions reduction, and increasing investments in clean energy projects. The board underscored the center's role in providing technical and institutional support to member states.
During the meeting, Engineer Amani Azzam, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Jordan's board member, announced the "Amman Sustainable Energy Week 2026," scheduled for May 5-7. Azzam highlighted that the event, organized by RCREEE, will serve as a crucial regional platform for dialogue and knowledge exchange among decision-makers, experts, and the private sector.
Azzam further noted that hosting the board meeting demonstrates Jordan's commitment to supporting joint Arab action in renewable energy and energy efficiency. The goal is to enhance expertise exchange and build regional partnerships to promote energy security and sustainable development throughout the region.
The board meeting was preceded by an executive committee meeting chaired by Major General Mohammad Issa, which handled preparations and reviewed technical and administrative agenda items before their submission to the board. Concluding the event, the board's chair and members expressed gratitude to Jordan and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for their hospitality and organization, acknowledging the contributions of all entities involved in the event's success.
