Rainfall raises dams storage to 81.2 mcm in 24 hours

Amman, Recent rainfall channeled 1.5 million cubic meters (mcm) in 24 hours into the Kingdom’s dams, raising their total amount to 81.250 mcm (29 percent) of the total capacity of 280.760 mcm, the Ministry of Water and Irrigation said on Wednesday.

According to a statement by the ministry, the King Talal Dam has received the highest water quantities over the past 24 hours, which amounted to 1.310 mcm, raising its reservoir to 24.642 mcm from its storage capacity of 67 mcm.

About 52.000 cm were mainly poured into Wihdeh Dam, 78,000 cm into Wadi Al Arab Dam, 40,000 cm into Sharhabil bin Hasna Dam, while the dams of Kufranja, Shuaib and Al Kafrin received 47,000 cm, 17,000 cm and 21,600 cm, respectively.
