Amman: Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah attended a charity dinner in Amman on Tuesday, marking the 20th anniversary of Al Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans. The event underscored the non-profit's commitment to enhancing educational opportunities for vulnerable youth throughout Jordan.
According to Jordan News Agency, the event, held under the patronage of Queen Rania, celebrated the achievements of the Fund's beneficiaries and acknowledged the cof its donors. It also aimed to secure funding for a new group of Jordanian youth to pursue higher education. Al Aman Fund, initially launched by Queen Rania in 2003 as a charitable campaign, became officially registered as a non-profit organization in 2006. It was the first institution in Jordan dedicated to supporting orphans aged 18 and above, focusing on providing educational opportunities and fostering personal and professional success.
Upon her arrival at the Grand Hyatt Amman hotel, Queen Rania met with members of Al Aman Fund's Board of Directors and General Assembly, along with some key donors and partners. Her Majesty expressed gratitude towards the organizations and individuals that support the Fund's mission. The event featured testimonials from former beneficiaries who shared how the Fund's support enabled them to complete their education and integrate into society successfully.
The dinner included remarks from Al Aman's Director General, Noor Homoud, who highlighted the Fund's impact in helping young men and women achieve independence through various forms of support. Homoud noted the expansion of services to orphaned youth across all Jordanian governorates, providing not only education but also housing, livelihood support, and health insurance.
To date, over 5,000 young people have benefited from fully-funded scholarships for university degrees, community college, or vocational training, thanks to Al Aman Fund. The charity event was supported by 38 sponsors and partners from both the public and private sectors, including notable contributions from platinum sponsors like the Housing Bank for Trade and Finance and Jordan Bromine Company, among others.
