Qatarneh and Hackett Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Issues.

Amman: Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Majed Qatarneh, engaged in discussions with Secretary General of Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Joe Hackett, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and collaborative efforts across various fields.

According to Jordan News Agency, the meeting also addressed urgent regional issues, particularly efforts to halt Israeli aggression in Gaza and Lebanon, the escalating tensions in the West Bank, and ensuring the delivery of adequate humanitarian aid to Gaza and Lebanon. Both officials emphasized the need for an international initiative to advocate for the recognition of a Palestinian state based on a two-state solution.

This initiative aims to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish an independent and sovereign state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The diplomats also highlighted the significance of supporting the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for P
alestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem. They condemned the recent illegal laws enacted by the Israeli Knesset that threaten to ban UNRWA’s activities.
