Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha, August 03 (QNA) – In their editorials today, Qatari newspapers emphasized Qatar’s repeated warnings that the international community’s neglect of ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza could lead to a devastating regional war. This comes amid Israel’s unwillingness to end the conflict or reach a prisoner exchange agreement.

The newspapers underscored that the ongoing acts of genocide, assassinations of leaders, and various attacks against the Palestinian people will only increase their resilience and determination to hold onto their rights, land, and holy sites, as they strive to reclaim all their legitimate rights and establish an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital.

In this context, Al-Raya newspaper highlighted in its editorial that the United Nations’ confirmation of the destruction of two-thirds of Gaza’s buildings, which has been subjected to brutal aggression for over 300 days. The paper noted that Israeli authorities are waging a war of extermination
and systematic destruction of Palestinian existence on their land, not only since the aggression began on October 7 but for more than 76 years since the occupation of Palestine. Over these eight decades, Israeli crimes have never ceased, encompassing killing, forced displacement, starvation, destruction, ethnic cleansing, torture, and abuse.

Al-Raya said that Israel is well aware that it will ultimately withdraw from Gaza, and the resilience of the Palestinian people will triumph over the brutal machinery of crime. To that end, Israel aims to inflict maximum destruction and damage on Gaza’s infrastructure, with long-term repercussions. The newspaper emphasized Qatar’s repeated warnings that the international community’s neglect of the aggression on Gaza portends a destructive regional war, given Israel’s reluctance to end the aggression and reach an agreement leading to a comprehensive peace ensuring the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The editorial concluded by condemning Israel’s destru
ction of Gaza, mistreatment of Palestinians in the West Bank, and land confiscation as efforts to eliminate any possibility of establishing a Palestinian state. It also criticized the international community’s inaction in condemning these racist plans and stopping the bloodshed in Gaza, which has resulted in 40,000 martyrs and tens of thousands of missing, injured, and displaced individuals.

Similarly, Al-Sharq newspaper highlighted the suffering of Palestinians under occupation, stating that for decades, Palestinians have made enormous sacrifices for their cause, bidding farewell to martyrs one after another. The current genocide in Gaza since October 7 has claimed over 130,000 lives, including many children and women, with over 10,000 missing amid widespread destruction and famine that has killed dozens of children.

In its editorial today, Al-Sharq noted the large crowds that participated in the funeral of Ismail Haniya, the head of Hamas’ political bureau, at Imam Muhammad bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque in Doha
. This massive turnout reflects the significance of the Palestinian cause to the Islamic and Arab peoples, as it remains the central issue uniting Muslims and Arabs. The funeral proceedings demonstrated the solidarity of the Ummah (Muslim community) with the Palestinian cause.

Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by asserting that the ongoing genocide, leader assassinations, and various forms of aggression and injustice faced by the Palestinian people will only strengthen their resolve to defend their land and holy sites, with the support of the entire Ummah. This steadfastness will continue until all legitimate rights are restored and an independent Palestinian state is established within the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital. (QNA)
