Qatari Newspapers Editorials

Doha: In their editorials on Thursday, Qatari newspapers touched upon several key topics, most prominently the meeting between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HH Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the accompanying delegation.

They also noted the State of Qatar’s commitment to scientific research, development, and innovation, as fundamental pillars for a smooth transition to a knowledge-based economy driven by technological leadership. In this regard, they pointed out the Cabinet’s approval to establish the Qatar Foundation for Supporting Innovation and Scientific Research, which will be responsible for supporting and funding innovation and scientific research, as well as enhancing their standards.

On the Arab front, the newspapers warned of the escalating Israeli war in the West Bank, which has recently affected cities, villages, and refugee camps in Jenin, Tulkarm, and other Palestinian cities, in addit
ion to the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip. They cautioned that this situation will lead to severe and dangerous consequences that everyone will bear the cost of.

In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said that both Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are committed to continuous coordination and consultation at the highest levels to address challenges effectively, ensuring security and stability on both regional and international fronts, adding that both countries also aim to enhance their fraternal relations and advance bilateral and Gulf cooperation across all fields, thereby achieving mutual interests and bringing prosperity to both nations.

The newspaper highlighted the recent meeting between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HH Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, adding that during this meeting, they reviewed the existing fraternal relations between the two countries, along with various topics of mutual i
nterest.

The newspaper concluded that the visit reflects the leaders’ commitment to security, stability, and joint efforts to reduce all forms of escalation and prevent the expansion of conflict in the region.

In another context, Al-Raya noted that Qatar National Vision 2030 places significant emphasis on scientific research, development, and innovation as fundamental pillars for a smooth transition to a knowledge-based economy driven by technological leadership. Qatar recognized the importance of this field early on and has begun implementing its comprehensive strategy.

The editorial pointed out that the Cabinet approved a draft law on supporting innovation and scientific research, and referring it to the Shura Council, in addition to a draft Amiri decision to establish the Qatar Foundation for Supporting Innovation and Scientific Research, which will be responsible for supporting and funding innovation and scientific research, managing and developing allocated resources, and nurturing the necessary capab
ilities to build a knowledge-based economy characterized by diversity and sustainable resources.

The newspaper stressed that the State of Qatar believes in the ability of scientific research and innovation to ensure comprehensive development and economic leadership, leveraging technology and experimental sciences to advance Qatar’s progress within a clear and comprehensive national strategy.

Al-Raya concluded its editorial by saying that the comprehensive mandate of the Qatar Foundation for Supporting Innovation and Scientific Research will enable it, within a few years, to position Qatar as a global center for research, innovation, and technological leadership, and as a global platform nurturing emerging technology companies.
