In the same context, Al-Watan newspaper said in its editorial that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani emphasized the State of Qatar’s aspiration to leverage its distinguished relations with Sweden to establish the foundations of a constructive and mutual partnership that meets the ambitions of both countries.
The newspaper praised the excellent bilateral relations between Qatar and the Kingdom of Sweden, expressing confidence that His Highness’s visit to Sweden will further strengthen the already strong ties between the two countries.
Al-Watan concluded by saying that there is no doubt that the visit provided an opportunity to discuss ways to enhance and deepen cooperation in various fields, such as developmental cooperation, in which Qatar plays a highly significant role on a global scale, and cooperation between the two countries on the issue of Afghanistan, where both Qatar and Sweden are deeply involved in seeking avenues for collaboration. Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed
to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, whose bilateral relations have reached 50 years.

In this regard, His Highness’s tours, conducted from time to time across most of the world’s continents, are significant. The latest of these is HH’s current tour to the Kingdom of Sweden, the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Finland. The Peninsula newspaper stressed in its editorial Wednesday the diplomatic, economic and strategic importance of the European tour of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, which includes Sweden, Norway and Finland.
The newspaper said in its editorial titled ” Distinguished Ties” that HH the Amir’s visit to Sweden marks a pivotal moment in the bilateral relationship
between the two nations, underscoring the depth and potential of a partnership that has matured over the past 50 years. During HH the Amir’s visit to Sweden, the two countries signed several MoUs on political consultations, cooperation in peace and reconciliation, humanitarian and development, land transport and logistics services, social development and family support and a letter of intent for military cooperation.
Trade between the two countries has been growing, with a 79% increase reaching QR 1.55 billion in 2023. This growth shows a lot of benefits from economic collaboration, particularly in sectors like energy, technology and heavy industries, Th Peninsula added.
