In turn, Al-Arab newspaper stressed that Qatari diplomatic efforts play a vital role in many current issues, such as keeping up with the dangerous developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, including contacts that took place at the highest levels and with various officials in the region and the world.
In this context, the newspaper noted that HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, received a phone call yesterday from HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken. The two sides discussed the latest developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, the latest developments in the joint mediation efforts to end the war on the Strip, the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, and the need for de-escalation in the region.
The State of Qatar’s efforts at various political and diplomatic levels, which have distinguished Qatari diplomacy, will continue to reduce escalation in the region, the paper said.
For
its part, Al-Watan newspaper said that the war of genocide waged by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, the complete targeting of their cause, and the practice of harsh policies prove that the occupation can never be a path towards peace.
The continuation of this brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip and the West Bank confirm that the Israeli entity does not abide by any international conventions and defies the international community, which demands an immediate end to the war of genocide, the paper added.
Al-Watan concluded by calling for the end of the aggression, the withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the fulfillment of Palestinian demands with a comprehensive strategic vision for the various aspects of Palestinian life, which the occupation continues to destroy.
In local affairs, English-language newspaper The Peninsula noted the achievements of the State of Qatar in food security sector in recent years, through promoting local production and expl
oring new supply chains, adding that the Ministry of Municipality has prepared a new National Food Security Strategy 2024-2030 which is expected to be launched soon.
In its editorial titled “Enhancing Food Security”, the paper said that Qatar has achieved advanced ranks on the Global Good Security Index, which reflects the efforts made by the country in terms of raising the levels of self-sufficiency, increasing local production and developing agricultural practices as well as adopting modern methods of agriculture.
The National Food Security Strategy has formed a buffer and a safety valve for Qatar in the face of all changes occurred in the past. The recommendations and opinions of stakeholders in food security issues have been incorporated in the new strategy which will last for seven years in line with Qatar National Vision of 2030, the paper said.
The strategy helped increase local production of agricultural food commodities in a sustainable manner, and the diversification of sources of foreign trade t
o avoid exposure to any potential risks that may arise in cases of crises and emergencies, the paper added.
The Peninsula concluded its editorial by pointing out that the 2018-2023 strategy built a strategic stock of food commodities in the country, taking into consideration the preservation of the Qatari environment and its sustainable development for future generations on the one hand, and the preservation of natural resources, especially those related to the elements of land and water on the other hand.
