Doha: September 15 – In their editorials, Qatari newspapers focused on several local and Arab topics, highlighting the State of Qatar’s intensive efforts to end the war in Gaza through joint mediation, as well as the significant attention the State is paying to the issue of climate change, which reflects its commitment to tackling global environmental challenges and its dedication to achieving its National Vision 2030, which prioritizes environmental preservation and development.
In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said that the State of Qatar continues its intensive efforts to end the genocide being waged by Israeli occupation forces in Gaza and other Palestinian cities since October last year, driven by its firm belief in resolving conflicts through diplomatic means and its role as a leading diplomatic force in mediating disputes and resolving international conflicts.
The newspaper added that through the joint mediation led by the State of Qatar, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the United States, which p
ersist despite obstacles and challenges to push both parties towards reaching a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner and hostage exchanges. The newspaper explained that reaching a ceasefire agreement would be a first step towards resuming the political path to achieve a final and just solution to the Palestinian issue within the framework of a two-state solution.
Al-Sharq concluded by noting that the worsening catastrophic humanitarian conditions and the immense suffering of civilians in Gaza, as well as the plight of the hostages and their families, necessitate the involvement of the international community and the pooling of all regional and international efforts to encourage both Israeli and Palestinian parties to accept the proposed suggestions to end the conflict through a lasting, comprehensive, and fair solution to the Palestinian issue.
In turn, Al-Watan said in its editorial that Israel’s Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir announced his intention to build a Jewish synagogue on the Temple M
ount, which is within the precincts of Al-Aqsa Mosque. This new move reveals the ambitions of the Israeli right-wing and warns of the extremely dangerous repercussions that could ensue.
The newspaper added that the division and Judaization of Al-Aqsa Mosque is no longer a matter of planning but has become a dangerous reality threatening the identity of the Mosque, targeting its past, present, and future. The plans that were discussed for decades have now become a more pressing reality, the newspaper stressed.
Al-Watan concluded by noting that since the beginning of the occupation, the Israeli government and extremist settler groups have aspired to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque both temporally and spatially, with their eyes set on replicating the experience of dividing the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron. This situation demands that the entire world express its opposition to these attempts to prevent even more dangerous escalation than those we have witnessed so far.
