Qatari government and private sector investments in Jordan currently amount to more than $4.5 billion, according to Deputy Chairman of the Qatari-Jordanian Business Council at the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khalifa bin Khamis Al-Maslamani.

In an interview with Petra, Al-Maslamani said Qatari private sector-owned investments in the Kingdom stood at $550 million, noting that $950 million of these is equity in companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange.

Other focus areas of Qatari capital, according to Al-Maslamani, include real estate, tourism and hospitality, banks, healthcare and ICT sectors, in addition to the energy field.

Al-Maslamani, a well-known investor in the real estate markets in Jordan and Qatar, stressed that what makes Jordan a preferred destination to many Qatari and Gulf investors and businessmen is its infrastructure and an attractive and stimulating climate.

He predicted that Qatar’s investments in Jordan are likely to rise during the coming period, whether at the level of the public or private sectors, especially in the education and renewables sectors.
