Purchase of liquefied gas shipment part of previous plan-NEPCO

The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) Wednesday said it has floated a tender to purchase a liquefied gas shipment as part of a prior plan prepared to manage natural gas deliveries needed by the Jordanian electric grid.

Responding to a ” Petra” question, NEPCO noted its plan requires sustained liquefied natural gas shipments as “a strategic” option to secure the Kingdom’s electric grid with the necessary fuel to operate when needed, by purchasing a “limited” number of liquefied gas deliveries from the global market and using the Aqaba gas port for this purpose.

This diversity of fuel imports seeks to achieve the concept of security of energy supply, according to NEPCO.

NEPCO purchased its last liquefied gas vessel in October 2020, about a year ago, the company added.
